Skiing Dates Dilemma 2010/

Yo, so the holidays are upon us, well teachers at least. Loving it. I have had 2 weeks off already and still another 5 to go. I have been playing golf at least once a week, mainly with a good friend Andre and we are neck and neck (both in games and shots) so I will start a tally going for this. The prize is going to be a lottery ticket for the winner eventually. So we could be playing for millions! I am also in the process of planning my inaugral motorbike tour. I will be getting the ferry from Poole to St. Malo, France on 10th August and driving down the coast of france to Bordeaux for a day, then off to Bayonne in the South West for a week. Afetr that I will head up to Mimizan and try to camp for 3 days before coming down south into the Hossegor area for another 2 nights. After that it is into Spain for 3 days at Noja, then back to Biarritz for 2 days before heading back to England. All in all I expect to cover about 2000 miles and should know more about the art of touring on a motorbike. My panniers are being built at the moment and I will then start all the faffing with how and where to pack everything!

On a skiing note, I am still negotiating to see how we can get a work around on the dates issue. One way may be to only book accomodation, the other would be to book a new year trip and a pre-Christmas trip that is shorter than 7 days so we arrive back on the morning of the 24th December.
As you know buses depart Friday or we can depart a Saturday with enough notice and then return on the Saturday arriving in London on the Sunday.
But this means we would either ski the 17th Dec or 25th Dec week.

I will keep you posted as to what and when, but it is really going to be an awkward one. I will definitely be organizing one for the February half term as, but if the numbers agree and people are keen we can do a Xmas one as well.

April Canadian Trip 2010 - Done!

School holidays and a chance to escape, again.  Great.  We had booked dog sledding in Canada, in the Algonquin National Park just 250 km North of Toronto.  It was going to be for 5 days with us travelling behind our own team of Huskies to remote camps, 30 to 50 km’s apart over 4 days.  Unfortunately, the snow is really thin on the lakes, if it hasn’t already melted and the weather too warm of late, so this part of our holiday has already been cancelled.  We have decided to hire a motorbike instead and tour up to the park instead and do some hiking.  We off to Montreal for 2 days and then we also have a few days booked at the Killington ski resort in Vermont.  They still have snow and are still expecting more bad weather as the Ontario regions warms up.  I feel good for having booked something south as opposed to Mont Tremblant near Montreal.  After that we’ll spend a few days in that area skiing different resorts as the weather dictates and then it’s back to Montreal for the flight to Toronto and then back home. Read the full Canada and USA trip. Read the ski reports on Killington (not so great in Spring) and unheard of Jay Peaks report.
